Nashville Scene calls Shana Smith a “cross between Joan Armatrading and the jazzier excursions of Joni Mitchell.” Shana has written over one hundred songs: Florida Folk, environmental, pro-activist and spirit-lifting. Her originals cover a broad range of topics such as rivers, produce stands, sweet tea, hot sauce, motherhood, and oak trees. She also has many hours worth of cover material in folk, jazz, and blues genres, from well-known to obscure. When not performing as a singer/songwriter, you can find her singing for kids as “Shana Banana,” leading uplifting “Chanting to the Open Heart” musical spiritual gatherings, teaching Zen meditation and yoga, and writing award-winning novels (her latest is called “Islands of Cedars” and is available at St. Petersburg Press: Islands of Cedars – St Petersburg Press). Her latest CD is called “Oak Tree In the Garden.”
