Sweetwater is offering 3-4 internships in our Field Trip program as “Field Trip Guides” from October 2023 through May 2024. Interns will assist the Education and Program Coordinators in leading field trips for school-aged children from the ages of 2-18. Field Trip Guides will learn to lead 2.5 hour field trips with groups of 10-15 children. Topics will include composting, seeding, greenhouse growing, water treatment, pest control, planting and harvesting. Sweetwater will provide hands-on farming and field trip program training. This is a wonderful opportunity for teacher-students to make a connection between the ecological, social and economical importance of sustainable agriculture. Interns must be available on at least two of the following days each week: Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. (Field trips normally run from 9am-1pm) This is a non-paid position, however a share of organic produce from the farm will be provided, along with a seasonal stipend.
